Dr Maxwell came to Psychiatry and Medicine following an early career designing and leading therapeutic wilderness trips for troubled adolescents in Michigan.
A 1995 graduate of the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University, he completed residency training in Adult Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital, Boston.
Dr Maxwell maintains Board Certification in both Adult as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Treatment may entail the judicious use of psychotropic medications, psychotherapy, or a combination of both - depending upon the needs and preferences of the individual.
CHILDREN
I welcome, diagnose, and treat children with all manner of behavioral and disruptive disorders including ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Pediatric Bipolar Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder.
ADOLESCENTS
My practice has a special focus on the evaluation and treatment of Adolescents across the developmental spectrum; I frequently treat Depression, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Bipolar Disorders, Substance Abuse and PTSD in both young women and young men.
ADULTS
Many patients come to me looking for help managing Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Insomnia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, PTSD and ADHD. Frequently I see patients for Second Opinions, or Medication Re-evaluations when symptoms are not adequately treated.
